Quartetto Gelato will bring the 2024-25 season of the Valley Concert Society to a rousing close on Friday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium.
The foursome bring serious talent to their programs. They also take their fun seriously, energy and a smile infusing everything they do.
Their creativity shines in their arrangements for the unique combination of instruments they play—violin, cello, oboe, and accordion…and more.
Their tastes range over a wide variety of musical styles. You will hear the divine beauty of Gabriel Fauré’s Sicilienne as well as Spaghetti Roads, a mashup of tunes by John Denver and Ennio Morricone.
Rodeo and Juliette plucks themes from four composers. Matti Pulkki’s arrangement of Summer from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons provides a new take on an old favourite. The quartet reaches around the world to play music from Serbia and Brazil.
The complete program is now posted at www.valleyconcertsociety.com . You can also go there for tickets to the evening. They are $32 for adults/seniors and $20 for students. There will be a pre-concert talk in the foyer at 6:50 p.m.
We will be announcing our plans for the 2025-26 concert season. For more information, call 604-289-3377.
