The first concert of the 2026-27 season for The Valley Concert Society may still be over four months away, but now is a very good time to slot six inspiring evenings into your coming schedule. Each provides its own good reason to subscribe.

The season will open on Friday, October 16, with the Pacific Baroque Orchestra led by their award-winning director Alexander Weimann. Their program is entitled A Little Night Music, a reference to Mozart’s well loved Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.
On Friday, November 20, Canadian tenor Benjamin Butterfield and pianist Sarah Hagen will bring their sparkling personalities and prodigious talents to a program of two song cycles. The first is Schumann’s Liederkreis. The second features the remarkable songs of Randy Newman, famous for his many movie scores.
The duo of violinist Edwin Huizinga and guitarist William Coulter have added the brilliant mandolinist Ashley Hoyer to form Fire & Grace & Ash. On Friday, February 12, they will perform music that ranges from their classical inspiration J.S. Bach to a variety of other genres.
Hometown pianist Paul Williamson and violinist Karl Stobbe have both performed in our series, but on Friday, March 5, they will appear here together for the first time. Their finely crafted program will include a beautiful violin sonata by Richard Strauss, a composer better known for his operas and orchestral tone poems.
We are delighted to present a rising star from Denmark, the cellist Jonathan Swensen on Friday, April 9. He will be joined by the highly acclaimed Finnish pianist Juho Pohjonen to bring a varied program that will include two beautifully evocative pieces by Gabriel Fauré.
The season will close on Friday, April 30, with the exceptionally talented Italian pianist Federico Colli. His concert will open with the music of Domenico Scarlatti and end with one of Mozart’s best-known sonatas.
I can’t resist adding a seventh great reason to subscribe. When compared to the cost of six single tickets, a subscription gives you a saving of about 30%—that’s nearly two free concerts.
Why now? Those who have reserved seats will want to renew them before June 30 when unclaimed seats become available to the next new member. In addition, everyone who subscribes will be entered in a draw for an additional free subscription.
You can do all of this online at www.valleyconcertsociety.com or call 604-289-3377.
Have a great summer.
