The Valley Concert Society is pleased to announce its second masterclass for string students to take place on Saturday, February 9, 2019. (The clinician is cellist Bryan Cheng, but the masterclass is open to other string players as well, such as violin or viola.)
Bryan Cheng is a member of the outstanding Cheng 2 Duo along with his pianist sister Sylvie. The duo, based in Quebec, has earned national and international acclaim for its performances. Bryan and Sylvie have each won major awards. Most recently Bryan won second prize at the Tonali International Cello Competition in Hamburg, Germany, on June 30 of this year. At that same competition he won the Schleswig-Holstein Sinfonieorchester Special Prize which gives him the opportunity to perform in two concerts with that orchestra and the Special Prize of the Hamburg Association of Friends of Chamber Music through which he will perform with a renowned ensemble in a world- class concert hall.
The Cheng 2 Duo will perform as part of the Valley Concert Society series the evening before the masterclass on Friday, February 8. Participants and attendees at the masterclass will have the opportunity to attend that concert at a discounted rate.
